Town of New Haven Selectmen’s Meeting
11:00 AM Town Offices
Monday, January 7, 2008
Present: Keith Hall, Paul Audy, Burt Allen, Pam Kingman
Others: Claire Van Buren, Barb Torian, Katie Reilley, Phil Busier, Earl Bessette
Work on budget
Roads: Discussion on setting a flat rate for driveway culvert installation. Currently the Town orders the culvert size that is needed and gets reimbursed for the culvert. It is up to the land owner to install the culvert to the Towns speculations of a 30 x 40 ft. driveway entrance, which allows for a turning radius for emergency vehicles. Often the culverts are not installed properly. Paul Audy made a motion to charge a flat rate of $1,000 which includes the cost of the culvert and installation. Seconded by Keith Hall, all agreed.
Grader has been paid off.
Phil Busier asked to have a fax machine installed at the town garage, currently all faxes come into the Town Offices.
Phil Busier suggested the selectboard buy some concrete blocks to put into the salt/sand shed to stock pile some salt. Salt has been increasingly hard to get this year, and it would be cheaper to purchase it in the summer.
Road Surfacing: Top coat to finish Munger St., and a section of Pearson Rd.
Grant money for paving River Rd, from the Kemps house in the Mills to Sargent Cross Rd.
Discussion of wages: Tabled
Sign pay orders
