Zoning Amendments

NOTE – See attached report from the Planning Commission

Paul Audy opened the meeting asking for any comments. As there were none, Mr. Audy asked for clarification from Al Karnatz about the Change in the front yard setback in the Neighborhood / Commercial District from 75 feet to 50 feet. Al Karnatz explained that the area involved is centered around the village, so it is a relatively small area and it will include a portion  of North St. as far down as the Fortier’s, which will then include the lot where the King House is to be moved.

There was discussion about amending Section 512 (2) of the Zoning Regulations everyone in attendance agreed that this change is good and that the Dog Team Tavern was a tragic loss.

Keith Hall – Amendment number one bothered him, not that it shouldn’t be that way. He said there were several violations in regards to the Dunbar’s property, and he feels it should have been handled differently.

Burt Allen made a motion to approve Amendments 1, 2, 3 and 4 to the Zoning Regulations as of May 29, 2007. Paul Audy seconded the motion. All agreed.

Al Karnatz – said there is a twenty one (21) day limbo period after you amend Zoning Regulations.

Mike Dunbar – asked if the lowest bidder always gets the project in town. He had concerns about Case St. Redi Mix doing the ball fields. Paul Audy said he felt that they would do a good job.

Burt Allen – Phil Busier was trying to get in touch with Pikes regarding the maintenance on Campground Rd. from the railroad crossing to Route 7. He thought he remembered an Act 250 permit which stated Pikes was responsible for this section of the road.

Discussion on the use of a push blade for the sand/salt shed. The cost of the push blade and brackets would be $ 7,250.00. Burt Allen said he will discuss using the States push blade with Phil Busier again. No action taken.

Discussion about our road crew sharing work with the Town of Panton, Burt Allen explained that the Panton road crew was here in New Haven this week to make up for the time we have spent there. Burt Allen said he has spoken with Panton Selectboard member, Anne Sullivan who expressed gratitude to New Haven for all of our help. He has also spoken with Peter Bouvier from the Bristol road crew who is very interested in sharing work with New Haven.

Roger Boise felt helping Bristol out is good idea because it is right next door, but that Panton is too far away.
