NEW BUSINESS
Visitors Business:
· Randy Boise from B & W Fuels – There was a discrepancy on one of the invoices he came in to clarify. It was agreed that the billing would continue as usual. Selectboard agreed it is okay to fill the kerosene barrel for the culvert thawer and other small equipment.
· Carol Barnes – asked for permission to paint the cafeteria. All agree.
· Julie Olson – upcoming schoolwide play, she would like permission to paint a scene on the back wall of the stage. She told the selectboard if the scene isn’t appealing, or someone complains; she is more than willing to paint over it. Paul Audy okay to paint, Keith Hall second all agree.
Additionally, she talked about Summer Services: Justine and Rory Jackson would like to offer a theater camp, mainly using the outdoor theater; there may be times when the town hall would need to be used. She asked the selectboard if they would be willing to waive the fee for using the town hall. The selectboard all agreed that they could not waive the fee, since the Jacksons were making a profit on the camp. The Jackson’s will also need proof of insurance prior to the start of the camp.
· Beverly Landon – had some questions about the budget most of which were answered. Pam Kingman will contact Beverly Landon with answers about the computer fund and the reappraisal fund.
· Al Karnatz – Appointments to the Planning Commission. There are three positions open this year; His recommendations are: Jim Gallott, Mike Dunbar, Lisa Sanchez and Benjamin Putnam. Al Karnatz was reappointed the Planning Commission.
· Kirsten Pitts – Ballfield Grants: She wanted to make sure the selectboard still wanted her to move forward with the project. All agreed that they do, Burt Allen said he would like to be kept informed of the progress. There was discussion about the timeline of the project (have until 2008 to complete) Ms. Pitts said she would like to have the project under contract by May 2007 she also told the selectboard that there is an easement with the Parks Service; because of the grant the fields and woods are to be used strictly for recreation. Discussion about moving the King House after the ball fields are completed; concern that we would still be able to hook up the septic without having to tear the new ball fields up. Paul Audy stated he doesn’t want to hold up the ballfield renovation for the King House.
· Suzy Roorda – Town Hall Applications – Cindy Kayhart would like to use the gym, and special requests for the cafeteria for Bovine 4-H, twice a month. Selectboard all okay, signed application.
Easter Candy Hunt is coming up on April 7th and Bingo Night on March 31st. Request for $175.00 for Easter candy and $100.00 towards soda/water for Bingo Night, selectboard all agree this is okay.
· Jerry Smiley – New Town Office Plans – Plans were shown to the selectboard for their review. Many agreed the office space was too small. Discussion about adding two feet to the building all the way around to make sure there is room for growth, but it will increase the cost. There was discussion about hiring an architect when the time comes. Jerry Smiley said he is still willing to work on the plans for nothing. Selectboard agree they want to deal with the King House first.
· Keith Hall – If the town votes to sell the King House to the Fortiers for $1.00, then a contract will be drawn up by the town attorney between the selectboard and the Fortiers. The following stipulations would apply: The Fortiers will be responsible for moving the house, as well as obtaining the necessary permits and a septic system. More discussion on moving the King House. Keith Hall made a motion to have the town attorney draw up contract, second by Paul Audy all agree.
· Roger Boise – went to the town shed to spend some time with the road crew, Phil Busier showed him around the sand/salt shed and they discussed moving the sand with a conveyor compared to using push blades. Further discussion about the use of a conveyor and what is involved, as well as needed upgrades to the town tractor. No action at this time.
· Paul Audy – Has received too many phone calls about our road crew helping out in Panton, needs to stop. Road crew needs to stay in town.
· Appointments – Selectboard has spoken with George Apgar, Jr. about being appointed to the Planning Commission. If he’s not interested, will invite Ray Fortier and Ben Putnam to the next meeting.Other vacancies – no one at this time.
