Read and approve minutes make corrections if needed. 

NEW BUSINESS

Wayne Marcelle – Town Hall screens - are breaking and falling down.   All screens will be removed and frames stored at King House.

Town Organizations do not need Selectboard approval for their Town Hall Permits. 

Ashley Bessette – Town Hall Permit for African dance – Attendance varies a lot she would like to be able to pay a sliding fee of $15.00 when less than 6 people show up and $25.00 when more than 6 people show up.  Selectboard O.K.

Roads – Work on Road Budget. Wage increase of .50 cents per hour for hourly employees and $1,000.00 dollars for Salaried.  All agree

• Julie Olson – Summer Services – They have been getting small grants to allow kids to participate in summer programs (education, sports, crafts, and various activities to provide) There are more kids needing assistance and less funds available.  They interview kids and teachers to find kids in need of help and then a committee decides which kids will get scholarships.  They try to identify kids who would be at home alone in front of a T.V. with social or academic needs being unfulfilled.  Would like the town to put in a line item for summer grants.  This would help with other grant possibilities.  School has been providing in kind services for several years.  Discussion of relationship between the school and the town.

 Selectboard agreed to put a line in budget for summer grants $1,000.00.  All agree.  Will also need a memo of understanding.    

 Work on Budget and Warning

 Discuss articles for town meeting.

 Suzy Roorda – Auditors have increased the selectboard wages - Chair increased to $2,000.00 Others increased to $1,500.00.

• VLCT – Request to have article at Town Meeting – Shall the voters of the Town of New Haven instruct our State Representatives and Senators to oppose:
  • Any use of the State Education Fund for purposes that are outside the law’s original intent to “make payments to school district and supervisory unions for the support of education”;
  • The shifting of existing State General Fund expense obligations to the Education Fund; and
  • The reduction of any existing State General Fund revenue support to the Education Fund?
