Visitors business
- Recycling – Scott Olson from Casella – Willing to
provide a drop off site for recycling. Options would be to provide free drop
off at Casella facility in Middlebury or will bring and remove trucks to a New
Haven location for $500.00 per month. Will also provide trash pick up at a
price yet to be determined. Would keep it clean. Middlebury location would
be open from 8-2 on Saturdays. New Haven location would be open from 8-12 on
Saturdays. Casella does not take plastics 3 through 7. They have a facility
in Williston where the materials are processed. Larry Buck motion to have
Casella set up for pickup behind the salt shed on Saturday mornings from
8-12. This would be on a 6 month trial basis. Cost would be $500.00 per
month. Will start on Oct. 1st. Second by Paul Audy. All
agree.
- Wayne Marcelle – Town Hall – Animal Control – Constable
Etc. – He does not have time for Animal Control Officer. Will continue
Town Hall. Would consider continuing on as Constable. But, it works better
to have the Animal Control Officer be the constable. Need to come up with a
job description. Will need a crate and pole. Wayne Marcelle will work on a
description of what he has been doing.
- Tracey Jerome – Re- Leonard Jerome retirement – no show
NEW BUSINESS
- Champlain Plumping and Heating - O.K. to fill gas
tanks as they see appropriate – Champlain Plumbing and Heating has been
given permission by the Selectboard to fill the fuel tank on their schedule.
They have been monitoring the price and will try to fill the tank when the
rates are favorable. As well as keep the tank from being empty. Phil Busier
concerned about making sure that the 911 gets added to the fuel. Phil Busier
will talk to Champlain Plumbing and Heating about additives and when they
start to cut the fuel. Discussion on removal of underground tanks. State
will need to oversee the process.
- Route 17 / East Street – Mario VT transportation
– Phil Busier will begin work soon. All have to do is chew up the tar one
road at a time. Will follow specs for A76. Will need to do ditching
Discussion of materials in the pit. Phil Busier has put up
23500 of sand. He would like to clean off the shelf and get more sand; hopes to
have 2 years worth crushed for this year so can work on gravel next year. Did
not have time to get to Choinier’s pit. Did not have a chance to organize other
towns to share the loader. Discussion make sure loader is being utilized while
we have it. It should not be sitting unused.
Delphia asked if he could bring in 2 tandem loads of sand
to shed. Bob- a-Do-It would also like to put sand in shed. Larry Buck
expressed his concern over the liability and potential for damage of having
others in the shed with equipment. Does not recommend doing. Discussion of
need for elevator to carry sand to top of pile. Phil Busier asked Randy Sargent
if he could make one. Phil Busier will write up a proposal.
- Road Grading – The roads which had chloride
applied are not so bad. Price of Chloride has doubled. Discussion of getting
a plastic tank to fix up with hoses and use for spraying chloride on.
Discussion can purchase for 63 cents per gallon or Pikes would apply for 75
cents a gallon. No conclusion.
Phil Busier is still working on getting pricing for
painting the roads.
- Agreement with Palmers for right of way –
Discussion of Berm covering half the right of way. Discussion of need to
block the wind. There has been some confusion over the work being done in /
near the right of way. Phil Busier will speak with John Palmer.
Discussion of the box for the 1998 truck – Scott’s truck
will need to be retired and money should go into the other truck. Discussion of
need for an equipment replacement schedule. Discussion of need to start working
on the budget.
- Generator –Discussion of setting up a place to
permanently have generator at Town Hall.
- Assistant to Zoning Administrator – Susie Leonard
– Selectboard O.k. pay at $10.00 hour
- Budget preparation
- Application to Vermont Municipal Equipment Loan Fund (
for Grader) - Signed
- Road Crew – Monitoring –Paul Audy will be contact.
School Town Agreement passed out for review.
- Karen Haury willing to allow portion of her property to
be used for recycling. – Would not work well.
- King House insurance increased to $600,000.
