AGENDA: Results

Visitors Business:

Larry Buck – JR has decided to leave the New Haven location.  The Selectboard has been looking for alternatives.  The Selectboard is not responsible for finding a rubbish location; they are concerned about providing recycling for the town.  They were only given two weeks notice.  They are still looking into alternatives, but have not been able to come up with one yet.

Discussion – Potential locations – by store – not very practical, Town garage – Dangerous for traffic reasons.  River Road Park is also dangerous and to much potential for dumping of trash.  Town Hall parking lot is possible if it can be done on a Saturday and is only there for a short period of time.  Would probably need to be a 40 yard  roll-off container which may be very costly.  Solid waste district has some grant possibilities but they are mostly for purchasing containers.  Discuss cost of recycling curb side.  People might actually like it once they get used to it.  Discuss importance of recycling and desire to make sure people continue to recycle.   More discussion on not having enough notice to find a solution.  Selectboard unwilling to dictate what hauler people will use if pick up is curb side.  More discussion of the problems of trash and stuff being left if the containers are left or not being monitored.  R&L said they would look into the potential of bringing in a container and removing it.

Selectboard looking to set up a temporary drop off at the Town Hall if they can find a hauler who is willing to bring a container and remove it at the end of the allocated time. It will need to be Saturday.  Susan Smiley will work on finding out more information from haulers.
