NEW BUSINESS
- Visitors business
- David Heisler – Fire Dept. – Roof on the fire station
is leaking and needs to be repaired. Will get estimate from Perfect Pitch,
Chris Kane.
- Silvia Gonzalez – School board – Al Calzini has
resigned from the school board. They have an advertisement out requesting
names of people who are interested in the position. The deadline is Oct.
18. The School Board will then meet at Mt Abe on the 19th of
Oct. at 5:30 to make recommendations to the select board for an appointment
to the school board. The select board has 30 days from receipt of the
resignation, which was on Sept. 27. to appoint someone. Select board will
meet on Thursday Oct. 21 at 7:00 am to make the appointment.
- Voices for Sensible Energy – VELCO
- Sansea Sparling – Hand out showing financial
information about the VELCO case. Voices for Sensible Energy would like to
have the Select Board put a line item in their budget for next year of $
10,000.00 for continued mitigation. The Public Service Board is currently
scheduled to make their decision on Jan. 14, 2005. Discussion of what has
been happening in the case. It seems likely that the sub-station will be
moved. They are hoping that the existing 15K line will be moved further to
the west of the field near the crest of the hill and tree line. Route 17
has the most dramatic visual impact of any along the proposed line. New
transformers may be quieter then the existing ones. It is sometimes
difficult to distinguish between mitigation and opposition. They have become
commingled in some areas. They were naive in their thoughts that $20,000.00
would be enough. Other towns have spent significantly more. Our money has
been very well spent. Jim Dumont is doing an excellent job. The group is
committed to the process and will follow through and continue to raise
monies as long as it takes to pay Jim Dumont for his services. Would like
to ask for an additional $20,000.00, but with all the flooding and whatnot
they decided to ask for $10,000.00.
- Larry Buck – The group has done a good job
representing the town’s interests, he thinks they took VELCO by surprise
with Jim Dumont’s approach. He would support putting money in the budget.
- Amos Roleau – Suggested they have a separate article
at Town Meeting. He thinks that line items are for the running of the town
and that this would be better in a situation were people could discuss it.
- More discussion about what to do. Voices will submit
a letter of request for a special town meeting.
- Town hall applications – Danyow – denied / Fire Dept. -
granted / Norris - denied / Roorda – granted. No alcohol will be allowed in
the town hall anymore.
Larry Buck – has a draft of potential agreement between the
School and the Town regarding the Town Hall and the Property behind the King
House. Copy given to Silvia Gonzalez for School Board.

determined yet. Discuss repairs for various locations.

Paving info from pikes for flood damage resurfacing at
54.53 / ton will be around $44,000.00. Signed.
Discuss paving that was planned for the year. Roads will
not be ready to pave. Will try to do some resurfacing instead. The price of
paving has gone up significantly. Select Board does not want to lose out on the
earlier price quoted. Consider resurfacing Portion of Town Hill Road and South
Street before winter.

Busier believes sand prices will be going up.
