Present: Burt Allen, Larry Buck, Barb Torian

Others:  Kathleen Ready, Sansea Sparling, Margaret Benn, Donna Fournier

Discussion – Ready and Sparling would like to be able to represent the town at the public hearing in Montpelier on Friday. Would like to be designated co-chairs of a committee to work on the VELCO hearings. Most information for other towns is being handled by lawyers.  The process is very complicated and moving at a fast pace.   They will be acting based on the Town vote in 2000 to appose the expansion of the VELCO power lines.

Allen – spoke about what kind of revenue the station might bring to the town.  They said they will berm the perimeter of the facility.  Not interested in spending money on this at this point in time.

Discus the lack of local control over the process once the Public Service Board allows them to proceed.  Discuss the town meeting vote to appose the lines. Discuss the town plan saying to promote environmental health, safety and well being.

Discuss 17 million dollar facility and what kind of tax revenue that might bring to the town.

Discus what type of drop in other property values there might be due to the power lines on people’s property?

Buck motion to have Sparling and Ready formally represent the town and make statements to the public service board.  Allen O.k.

Adjourn 7:20 pm

Walk of the VELCO substation on Nov. 13 at 3 pm
